Manuel Margot hit for the coveted cycle in the Portland Sea Dogs’ 10-5 victory over the New Britain Rock Cats at Hadlock Field on Sunday afternoon, becoming the second Sea Dog to accomplish the feat this season and just the fourth in team history.

Margot got his historic afternoon started with a bang in the bottom of the second inning, drilling a pitch from Harrison Musgrave to right field for his third Double-A home run of the season. He followed that up with an RBI double to right field in the fourth, scoring Forrestt Allday all the way from first.

Many consider the triple the hardest hit to get in a bid for the cycle and Margot promptly took care of that with a hit to center field in the sixth. Needing only a single to complete the cycle, Margot delivered with a long RBI single over the right fielder’s head the bottom of the eighth.

Margot finished the afternoon 4-for-5 with five RBIs and is now hitting .410 (16-for-39) with two home runs, 11 RBIs and three stolen bases over his last 10 games.

The impressive offensive performance came on the Sea Dogs’ annual ‘Field of Dreams’ promotion, where the team wears throwback uniforms and emerges through cornstalks in center field as an homage to the famous film.

Fellow Sea Dog Tim Roberson accomplished the feat earlier this season, when he hit for the cycle in a wild 13-11 Sea Dogs victory over the same New Britain Rock Cats on May 15.

The Portland Sea Dogs will conclude their 2015 season when they take on the New Britain Rock Cats in their series finale this afternoon at Hadlock Field. The team will present awards in a special pregame ceremony for the Most Valuable Player, Pitcher of the Year, 10th player and Citizen of the Year.
